Not for everyone

Great mask, but quality needs improving

Best sleep mask I've ever used for light blocking, comfort around the nose and doesn't put pressure on your eyes like regular masks, good shape etc. My only gripe is that, for $40 you would expect a sleep mask to last longer than a few months. Unfortunately, that's when the backing fabric starts peeling off from the front until the whole thing is split into two separate layers. I've gone through 3 in 12 months, they all do the same thing. Also the strap is a bit too wide and thick, a slim twin-elastic stye would be heaps better. Even with these annoyances, I am online right now to buy another one because I can't find anything better. Super for flying

Mask perfect, strap could be better

The mask portion is amazing, with my only complaint being that my nose is a slightly different shape than this seems to be designed for, but even then it was comfortable and blocked the light well. The strap however would scratch against the top of my ears and was slightly uncomfortable or a little loose. More options here would make this perfect. Early days but I'm thrilled so far.

I have tried lots of different styles of masks and picked up some good ones as I have traveled the word, but the Bucky 40 Blinks Black Sleep Mask has just shot to the top of my favorite list. I rate them 10/10 for comfort which includes fitting, weight, breathability and light block out - which for me is a total blackout. I couldn't be happier. It far too early to comment about the make quality and durability as I have noted from other reviewers, but a similar very good mask I purchased in Japan did peel apart like many have found. Not happy with the back strap

The back strap is uncomfortable. The 'single strap' design means that you have to have it on fairly tight for it to stay in place.

A split design, something akin to the strap on swimming goggles would be much, much better. It wouldn't rub on the ears and would stay in place.

The design also means that it has a tendency to ride up on your face and let light in at the bottom.

On a positive note, I can't fault the quality of the product - it seems to be very well made. It is just the design that has left me very disappointed. (Posted on 29/1/15 )

Really good but needs improvements

I have trouble sleeping and finally came across these through a recommendation from a friend. I love it however the biggest downside is they fall apart pretty quickly. I have gone through 4 in the last year as I wear them every night and after a few months the seems separate and it starts to get uncomfortable and no longer blocks the light. However, I won't stop buying as it helps me sleep but I think I'll try the other kind as well to see if it holds up better. Excellent - with a small modification

I LOVE this sleep mask, and would highly recommend it. However, once you've adjusted the fit to be perfect, be prepared for a little sewing - literally only about 2 minutes worth. Once it fit me perfectly, I would wake up and find some of my hair painfully tangled in the 'leftover' velcro. So to solve it, I just quickly stitched - with big, wide, messy stitches - a little calico 'sleeve' over the exposed velcro, tacked it on either side so it couldn't move, and voilà, perfect.

It'd be great if it came with a sleeve because of course it doesn't look as shnazzy, but honestly, I'm using it for sleeping so I couldn't really care less. Took no more than 2-3 minutes to do and now I can enjoy the mask - fantastically comfortable and blocks out practically every shred of light. (Posted on 10/12/14 )

Coming apart at the seams!!!!

This product was purchased as a replacement. I bought one (different pattern) about April and it was 5stars for everything untill it started to seperate and eventually the lining and main mask parted company - s real shame but I'm willing to take the risk as it is brilliant otherwise-soft, comfy and completely light proof. A life saver!

My teenage son can't sleep with any sort of light around him, I work evenings from home and even the light under my office door bothers him. One of the best I've found, but could use improvement

The 40 blinks is one of the best sleep masks I've found, but it could use improvement in two areas.

The first is that they fall apart sooner than I'd expect. The micro stitching on the seams comes apart after a couple of dozen wears for me, so now I sew the seams before I start using a new one.

The single headband is good quality, but if you sleep on your side it'll be across your ear and it's not very comfortable. I bought two, cut the straps off both, and I sew the straps on below and above where my ear sits.

As long as you consider them moderately priced masks that should probably be replaced every few months, and don't mind a bit of sewing, they're one of the best on the market. (Posted on 23/5/12 )

Went through two....and still won't stick together!

I bought one, after working with a family as a nanny and watching their daughter contort both of their Bucky sleeping maskes, spilling things on them, and generally destroying them. Funny thing is, they stayed in tact and looked brand new at all times!
After I bought mine I was so excited because I would treat it like gold, and I was using it sleep on university campus with all the light. However, my first one fell apart and the owner generously gave me another one that also fell apart.
I had to cut one of the layers off it got so bad to sleep in because it would curl up in my sleep, on my face. I would ask for another one but I don't feel the quality is there in the last couple of batches and would be worried to waste their time and money.
