Directions
To Apply:
Make sure hands and ear opening are clean and dry. Shape whole plug into a ball.
Place plug over ear opening and flatten to form airtight seal. Avoid hair.
Warning: Do not insert into ear canal. Cover only. Do not cut, break apart or elongate.
To Remove: To loosen and remove, press up behind ear. Discard when soild or no loger sticky (up to 5 uses).
How long can I re-use the earplugs before they need to be replaced?
The earplugs may be re-used until they are dirty or no longer sticky (up to 5 uses). Keeping your hands and ears clean and dry prior to handling/applying the earplugs will help prolong the useable life of the earplugs.
What are the silicone earplugs made of and do they contain latex?
The earplugs are made of moldable, non-irritating silicone rubber and do not contain any latex.

Are there any additional application tips to help me get an airtight / watertight seal with the earplugs?
First try re-reading the directions, then apply a fresh pair of earplugs, making sure your hands and ears are clean and dry. Moldable silicone earplugs are designed to stick to the surface of a clean, dry ear. If the earplugs are being used in a moist and/or dirty environment, be sure the hands and ears are clean and dry before applying or re-inserting the earplugs or a proper seal may not be achieved. A sign that you have achieved a proper seal is that your own voice will sound more internal and exaggerated. Lastly, try covering the ear canal with the earplug starting from the rear and moving toward the face. This technique squeezes out some of the air in the ear canal before sealing it shut, thus creating a bit of a suction effect. This last technique takes a little practice but creates an excellent seal when done correctly.
Can I break the earplugs in half for smaller sized ears?
No. The earplugs are designed to cover the ear canal. Breaking them into smaller pieces may cause the user to push the earplug into the ear canal making it more difficult to remove. We recommend using Mack's® Kid's Size Silicone Earplugs for children six and under.
Will the earplugs melt if they are exposed to warm temperatures?
Absolutely not. The earplugs may become slightly more pliable when exposed to warm temperatures, but never viscous. Each batch of material is stability tested in our lab at over 350 degrees F. (The typical temperature for a hot tub and sauna is 104 degrees F and 170 degrees F respectively.) To date, not a single test has shown positive results for melting or shape transformation (instability).
Are the moldable silicone earplugs safe to use for flying discomfort? If so, when and how do I use them?
These earplugs have been used while flying since the early 1960's and our users report them to be safe and effective for reducing flying discomfort. In addition, Dr. Ira Rubin, MD, PhD has found Mack's® Pillow Soft® Silicone earplugs to be an effective tool in preventing ear pain in children, especially infants, during plane trips. As he is quoted in a leading pediatric journal: "When molded to the ear canal, they protect the ear from painful air pressure changes and reduce noise as well. Parents report that ear plugs work especially well with infants when left in place for the entire flight. I suggest a trial run a week before the trip if parents anticipate a child's refusing to leave the ear plugs in place."
It is believed that the plugs slow down and/or decrease the effects of the pressure changes, thus allowing the ears more time to respond and equalize. As mentioned above, another manner by which the plugs help is by lowering the noise levels in the cabin allowing the user to rest, thus helping combat the effects of jet lag. The benefit of this rest is twofold in that is also helps calm and relax the "tense" flyer, thus allowing them to equalize more effectively. If you are suffering from an ear health condition, we recommend you consult an E.N.T. (ear, nose, and throat doctor) before flying while using the earplugs.
As the earplugs are only to be used as an aid, the user needs to take an active roll in trying to prevent the onset of the discomfort. The person should try to stay ahead of and prevent the discomfort by trying to "clear" their ears by one of the various known methods. This is especially important during descent when most of the discomfort occurs. One of the methods involves plugging the nose while applying slight blowing pressure while holding one's breath. Another method is to chew gum. It is not the gum itself, but the wide opening motion of the jaw and the act of swallowing that helps aid in the equalization process. Therefore, either faking it or merely munching on some snacks can achieve the same results.
We recommend wearing the earplugs the entire flight, up until the airplane has landed and the cabin has been depressurized.

I have religiously used these every night for about 5 years now. Previously I could not fault them at all.
However the latest batch I have ordered has completely let me down. The ingredients or the way it has been made has been changed. They no longer fit neatly into the ear and fall out immediately, as if they were dirty. Super disappointed given they were my favourite. Massive let down.

I've tried some cheaper and some way more expensive earplugs, but no others have fit as well and blocked out as much noise as these do. I wear mine every night and make sure to clean them under running water each morning and 1 pair lasts a week.

I purchased these and they are quite good but Mack’s bring out an orange coloured version which I find better and will purchase them once Sleep Solutions get them back in stock. But these are good for now and do the job for sleeping and being a side sleeper they block out noise.

Surprised after seeing so many good reviews about these. I also thought you could reuse them a couple of times but you can’t because they’re so unhygienic they way they are sticky and everything getting stuck to them. Also not that comfortable. They aren’t terrible but I wouldn’t recommend them, and won’t buy them again.

I live near Townsville and swim daily all year round. During the wet season when the humidity is high, ‘tropical ear’, a fungus infection is a common problem and the solution is to prevent water getting in to the outer ear canal. I’ve used these ear plugs for ten months with great success and will continue to do so. I recommend them highly.

I've tried a couple of different brands of earplugs and these are the best I've tried so far. They're comfortable to the point that I don't wake up with a sore ear. They stay in all night which is a bonus as I've woken up with others that have fallen out. And their noise protection is quite good, definitely better than no plugs at all. Each pair lasts me about a week, which is ok I guess but it would be great if they lasted longer. Overall I'm happy with them and will be ordering more when my existing ones run out.

I had tried a few other ear plugs to block out noise and the sound of my husband snoring and I was a little bit sceptical because these didn't have the highest db rating. However, these were super soft and comfortable AND they were so good at blocking out sound that I have been able to sleep right through and not even slightly hear my husband snore. Getting toward the end of their usable life they are not as effective. Must have something to do with the stickiness of the plug. Snoring partner is never blocked completely but the Mack's moldables gives enough block out and allows me to not wait for the next breath.

I tried a few earplugs, so far it's the best I found. It's blocking most of the snoring sounds and traffic, seems to hold all night. Only bad point, is that your hair get stuck on the silicon and getting pulled out. Fast delivery.

I’ve needed earplugs for the last 25 years and have tried many types before finding these ones.
They are absolutely the best to be found. Comfortable, durable, and safe (they don’t fall apart leaving tiny pieces in your ear canal that then need to be removed by a doctor, unlike some other silicone brands I’ve used).

Fit snug, unobtrusive, flexible. Improves my sleep a vast amount. I'm a light sleeper. I've used many types before, including cotton covered variant. These are by far the best and improve the quality of my sleep in a big way. If you need peace and quiet to sleep, but don't want to 'feel' you have things in your ears - the silicone moulds to any shape. Highly highly recommended fellow troubled sleeper:-)

I must have got a bad batch. For a start they were nowhere near as effective as many other brands I have tried and in any case they are only rated at 22Db compared to 29-30 for other brands. It took around nine days fro them to arrive in Perth from Sydney and the postage of $7.95 was over the top. Overall, very disappointed to the point that I threw them away after the first night.

I can be a light sleeper and I was finding myself being woken every morning by others in the household who get up early plus I do shift work which includes night duty and it seemed the neighbors were ALWAYS having some kind of building work done on their house! These earplugs changed everything! I'd been attempting to use those foam ones but they were so useless and uncomfortable that most nights I wouldn't bother with anything. Until I picked up a pair of these silicon ones from the chemist...

- blocked out all noise that I needed to be blocked including powertools on neighboring houses on most occasions
- comfortable in my ears when applied properly
CONS
- very loud noises can still be heard (but hey, they are earplugs, not magic)
- when they are at the end of their lifespan and start to lose stick, they can move slightly in ears and need to be readjusted

I've tried the foam earplugs (even the same brand) but none of them come close to the level of silence these provide. Had to come here because they disappeared from the supermarket shelves but now I can buy in bulk which is good.
I like these earplugs because if you insert them properly you can get an airtight seal with a slight vacuum in the ear canal, which makes them considerably more effective. A little moisturiser around the ear canal helps greatly with this, especially after a couple of uses. It can take a bit of practice as you have to gently press the earplug slightly into the canal, get the seal, then let it spring back to create the vacuum. For me this deadens the surrounding noise to a quarter the volume of inserting the earplugs normally with no vacuum seal.
I couldn't survive living in a unit complex without these!

These earplugs work wonderfully well. I found them easy to fit and they really help prevent earache and water in my ears when I swim. They are a real benefit because regular 'in canal' earplugs caused headache. Mack's ones don't cause any such issues.

These plugs provide enough sound attenuation and I can wear them comfortably under my helmet all day. I have tried numerous earplugs at great expense and found for my ears that as the wind pressure moves the helmet these are the only ones that don't irritate after an hour. Highly recommend.
