Why should I use a Cool Mist Humidifier?

Do Crane humidifiers require a filter?
Most Crane humidifiers are "filter-free," meaning you do not need to buy expensive replacement wicks to operate them. However, if you have "hard water" (water with high mineral content), Crane recommends using their Demineralization Filter Cartridge. This screws into the tank cap and removes minerals from the water to prevent "white dust" from settling on your furniture.
Can I put essential oils in my Crane humidifier?
It depends on the model. The standard Crane Drop and Adorable Animal humidifiers are made of plastics that can be damaged by essential oils if put directly into the tank. However, many newer Crane models feature a separate Aroma Tray or are specifically labeled as "Warm & Cool Mist" units that are oil-compatible.
