Part of HiGear Design, Inc., Travelrest offers products that allow travellers to enjoy better sleep and comfort.

Founded by John Mittelstadt, the idea was born during his frequent travelling to Asia. His constant struggle with sleep aboard airlines, led John to create inflatable travel pillows, travel blankets, memory foam travel pillows, sleep masks, and luxurious pillow covers.

About John Mittelstadt – Co-founder and inventor:

The concept behind the inaugural product, the Inflatable Travelrest® pillow, was founded by, John Mittelstadt, amidst his frequent journeys to and from Asia. Throughout these extensive and uncomfortable flights, Mittelstadt struggled to find a restful way to sleep. On the rare occasions he managed to doze off, it was only a matter of time before his pillow would shift, disrupting his rest. The pillows provided by airlines were bulky and lacked support, while most alternative travel pillows forced the head into forward positions that were uncomfortable after just a short period. During one flight to Asia, Mittelstadt removed the laces from his running shoes and tied the airline pillow to his seat's headrest, hoping it would remain in a comfortable position. This ingenuity led to Mittelstadt's "a-ha" moment, sparking the invention of the first-ever "tethered" pillow. Pondering over a design for a travel pillow that would allow for sleep while sitting upright, Mittelstadt embarked on creating something unprecedented in the travel industry. Recognizing the global demand for a better sleeping solution during travel, he refined his design, secured a patent, and commenced production. The Inflatable Travelrest® pillow quickly became a favorite among customers seeking a more restful way to reach their destinations.
