About Dunlop Foams

Dunlop Foams is the premier manufacturer of polyurethane foam in Australasia, widely recognized as the industry standard for comfort, durability, and quality. With a heritage spanning over 70 years, the brand has evolved from its origins in tire manufacturing to become a dominant force in the bedding, furniture, and industrial sectors. Part of the renowned Comfort Group, Dunlop Foams operates multiple world-class manufacturing facilities across Australia and New Zealand.

The brand is the invisible engine behind many of the region's best furniture and bedding products, supplying the high-performance cores for sofas, mattresses, and commercial seating. Beyond industrial supply, Dunlop Foams offers a direct-to-consumer range of premium mattress toppers, overlays, and therapeutic pillows, all designed to upgrade the comfort of existing sleeping surfaces. Whether it is the legendary resilience of their Enduro® range or the pressure-relieving properties of their Visco-elastic memory foam, Dunlop Foams represents the benchmark for foam technology in the Southern Hemisphere.

Mission, Vision & Innovation

Dunlop Foams’ mission is to deliver "Comfort that Lasts," ensuring that every product they manufacture stands the test of time while supporting the health of the user and the planet. Their vision is to remain the "Foam Provider of Choice" by combining manufacturing excellence with strict environmental stewardship. Innovation is the cornerstone of this vision, most notably seen in their development of Enduro® Foam—a high-density, fire-retardant foam that revolutionized the furniture industry with its ability to retain shape and support for decades.

Furthermore, Dunlop Foams is a pioneer in hygiene technology; they were the first in Australia to partner with Ultra-Fresh, an antimicrobial treatment embedded into the foam during manufacture to inhibit the growth of mold, mildew, and dust mites. Committed to sustainability, many of their foams are GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) certified and 100% recyclable, reflecting their dedication to reducing landfill waste.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dunlop Enduro® Foam?

Enduro® is Dunlop's premium range of high-density foam, celebrated for its exceptional durability and resilience. Unlike standard foams that can sag or dip over time, Enduro is engineered to bounce back to its original shape year after year. Because of its superior quality, it is the preferred choice for high-traffic commercial furniture and premium domestic sofas, often backed by a lifetime warranty for residential use.

Does Dunlop Foams use anti-allergy treatments?

Yes. The majority of Dunlop Foams products are treated with Ultra-Fresh, a performance antimicrobial compound. This treatment is added during the manufacturing process to protect the foam from the growth of bacteria, fungi, mold, and dust mites. This makes Dunlop Foams an excellent choice for asthma and allergy sufferers, as endorsed by the National Asthma Council's Sensitive Choice program.

What is the difference between Foam Density and Hardness?

This is a common technical question. Density refers to the weight of the foam (kg per cubic meter) and indicates its durability; generally, the higher the density, the longer the foam will last. Hardness refers to the "feel" or firmness of the foam (how soft or firm it feels when you sit on it). It is possible to have a high-density (durable) foam that feels soft, or a low-density foam that feels hard

Are Dunlop Foams environmentally friendly?

Yes. Dunlop Foams is committed to sustainable manufacturing. They utilize CO2 manufacturing technologies that avoid the use of ozone-depleting CFCs. Many of their foam grades are GECA certified, meeting strict environmental, human health, and social impact standards. Additionally, the company operates a recycling program where foam off-cuts and end-of-life products are re-purposed into carpet underlay (Dunlop Flooring).

Can I wash my Dunlop foam mattress topper?

Generally, you should not machine wash the foam itself, as water can get trapped inside the cellular structure, leading to damage or mold growth. If the foam gets dirty, it should be spot-cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then air-dried away from direct sunlight. However, many Dunlop toppers come with a removable, washable cover which can be laundered to keep the sleeping surface hygienic.
