Because the sound is transmitted through the pillow directly to your ear (bone conduction and air conduction), the volume can be kept very low. Unless you have the volume turned up excessively high, the sound usually does not bleed out into the rest of the room, allowing your partner to sleep in silence while you listen to your podcast.

Most users cannot. The Pillowsonic is designed to be placed under your pillow (between the pillow and the mattress) or inside the pillowcase on the underside. Because the speakers are flat and encased in soft foam, the bulk of the pillow cushions them. If you use a very thin or memory foam pillow, you may notice a slight bump, but for standard fiber-fill pillows, it is virtually undetectable.

The classic Pillowsonic Wired model does not have a battery. It is a passive speaker system that plugs directly into a headphone jack. This means you never have to worry about charging it or it dying in the middle of the night.
