About Tommee Tippee

Tommee Tippee is a globally recognized powerhouse in the baby and toddler care industry. Originally founded in 1965 and now owned by the UK-based Mayborn Group, the brand has spent over half a century engineering products that simplify the chaotic, wonderful journey of raising a child. Their origin story famously revolves around a spill-proof weighted cup designed by three brothers in California and named after their dog, Tommee.

Today, Tommee Tippee is a household staple trusted by generations of parents. They are best known for their multi-award-winning Closer to Nature® baby bottles, advanced anti-colic solutions, the game-changing Perfect Prep™ machine, and an expansive range of soothing, sleeping, and diaper-changing accessories.

Mission, Vision & Innovation

Tommee Tippee operates on the mission to "liberate and amplify the intuition of newborn parents with empathetic design." Their overarching vision is to become the world’s most-loved baby company by anticipating problems and providing smart solutions that make parenting easier. The brand’s core innovation lies in Biomimetic Design and Tech-Enabled Convenience.

Their iconic Closer to Nature bottle teats were meticulously engineered to flex, stretch, and move exactly like a mother's breast, easing the transition between breast and bottle feeding. Furthermore, their innovation lab continuously pushes boundaries with electronic solutions, such as the Perfect Prep™ machine, which prepares a baby's formula bottle at the exact body temperature in under two minutes, and the Dreammaker™ sleep aid, developed in collaboration with sleep scientists.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Tommee Tippee Dreammaker different from a standard white noise machine?

The Dreammaker was developed with sleep scientists at Northumbria University — one of the UK's leading sleep research institutions — and is designed around the specific sleep science of infants rather than simply playing ambient sound. It combines three distinct sleep-promoting technologies: pink noise that mimics the womb environment, red light at a precise wavelength that supports melatonin production without over-stimulating baby, and a pulsing glow that mirrors the slow breathing rate of a sleeping baby to encourage physiological calm. This multi-sensory approach targets infant sleep at a deeper level than sound alone.

Why is pink noise used in the Tommee Tippee Dreammaker rather than white noise?

While white noise is a well-known sleep aid, pink noise more closely resembles the sounds a baby hears in the womb — the whoosh of blood flow, the rhythm of heartbeat and breathing, and the muffled sounds of the outside world. This familiarity makes it particularly calming for newborns and young babies who have spent months surrounded by these sounds. Research suggests pink noise may help babies fall asleep faster, sleep more deeply, and remain asleep for longer by providing a comforting and natural auditory backdrop.

What is the CrySensor technology and how does it work?

The Dreammaker features Tommee Tippee's intelligent CrySensor — a built-in microphone that listens for baby's cries during the night. When baby begins to stir or cry, the device automatically reactivates, resuming the pink noise and light therapy to help settle baby back to sleep before they fully wake. This means parents don't need to get up and manually restart the device during the night, which can be a significant benefit in the early months when night wakings are frequent.

Is the red light in the Dreammaker safe for babies?

Yes. The Dreammaker uses a specific red light wavelength (655–660nm) that is scientifically selected for its minimal stimulating effect on the nervous system. Unlike blue or white light, which suppresses melatonin production and can signal wakefulness to the brain, red light at this wavelength actively supports melatonin production — the hormone that regulates the sleep–wake cycle. It provides enough gentle illumination for parents to check on baby without disturbing their sleep.

Can the Tommee Tippee Dreammaker be used to help parents sleep too?

Yes — the Dreammaker is designed with parents in mind as well. Once baby is settled, the device's settings can be adjusted so that parents can also benefit from the pink noise and red light therapy to help their own bodies wind down and prepare for sleep. Given how chronically sleep-deprived many parents of newborns become, this dual functionality is a genuinely thoughtful feature that distinguishes the Dreammaker from a purely infant-focused product.
