What is a Coverlet?

A coverlet is a lightweight bed covering that sits on top of your sheets as the final layer on your bed. It is thinner than a quilt or comforter and usually has a light fill held in place by stitching, which gives it structure and a neat, tailored look.

Unlike a quilt cover, a coverlet does not need a separate quilt inside it. It is ready to use straight out of the pack. Coverlets are also generally smaller than a bedspread: a bedspread is designed to fall almost to the floor, while a coverlet typically covers the top of the mattress and drapes partway down the sides.
