AlcoSense™ breathalyzers utilize advanced electrochemical fuel cell sensors, which is the same technology used by law enforcement officers for roadside testing. Unlike cheaper semiconductor sensors, fuel cells are highly specific to ethyl alcohol and are not affected by other substances like mouthwash or cigarette smoke, ensuring consistent and precise BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) readings.

When an Andatech breathalyzer is AS3547 certified, it means the device has undergone rigorous independent testing to meet the strict performance and reliability standards set by Standards Australia. This certification guarantees that the device is accurate, durable, and suitable for its intended use, whether for personal safety or workplace compliance.

To maintain accuracy, most personal and workplace breathalyzers require calibration every 6 months. Calibration resets the sensor to ensure it continues to read correctly over time. Andatech offers a unique "Lifetime Guarantee" on many of their AlcoSense units, provided they are serviced and calibrated according to the recommended schedule.

Andatech offers both options to suit different needs. Saliva tests (like the DrugSense DSO8) are ideal for detecting recent drug use (impairment), making them popular for random workplace screening and roadside testing. Urine tests typically have a longer detection window, making them better suited for pre-employment screening to identify past drug usage habits.

While personal units like the AlcoSense Verity are highly accurate, Andatech recommends using specific "Industrial" or "Workplace" models (like the Prodigy series) for employee testing. Workplace models are designed for high-volume testing, feature faster recovery times, and often include data logging capabilities to satisfy legal and OHS compliance requirements.
