Night Light & Sleep Support Light

The night light function is optional and has a separate switch from the humidifier on/off button. Choose from rotating colours, a single colour, or have it completely off. Please note: the power indicator light does not completely switch off - it will light up bright and then dim after some time.

Why cool mist?

Cool mist humidifiers do not contain a heating element, making them one of the safest options for newborns and young children. The ultrasonic vibrations produce fine mist particles that are cool to the touch. Cool mist is also recommended to help relieve croup. Unlike warm mist or steam vapourisers, there is no burn risk from the mist itself.

How does the ultrasonic humidifier work?

An ultrasonic humidifier works similarly to a stereo speaker, yet stays whisper quiet. A nebuliser vibrates at an ultrasonic frequency to create a fine mist that easily dissipates into the air rather than forming droplets that fall to the ground - gently and quietly raising the humidity in your room.

Care Instructions

What is the best way to clean my Crane humidifier?

Regular cleaning will keep your humidifier running smoother, for longer. We highly recommend emptying the water tank and basin after each use and disinfecting them at least once a week with water and a few capfuls of white vinegar.

For stubborn spots, a diluted bleach and water solution (same proportions as the vinegar solution) is recommended. Allow the mixture to sit for at least 30 minutes. You can also add crushed ice to the solution and shake, to help scrub hard-to-reach areas.

Cleaning and disinfecting on a regular basis is very important for maintaining the performance of your humidifier - NEVER IMMERSE THE HUMIDIFIER BASE IN WATER.

Do not use hot water to fill the tank.
Ensure the water tank cap is firmly tightened before carrying or moving the unit.
Carry a filled water tank with two hands.
A small cleaning brush is included for cleaning around the base and nebuliser.

Why should I use a humidifier?

Humidifiers increase moisture in the air that can otherwise be depleted by air conditioners, heaters, and dry weather. The right balance of air moisture helps ease coughs, dry tickly throats, congestion and colds - and supports a better night's sleep.

Is it suitable for babies and toddlers?

Yes. This unit is designed for use with babies and toddlers. The cool mist technology makes it safe to use in the home, unlike hot steam vapourisers which carry a burns hazard. It is safe to use from newborn - without essential oils until age 3.

Humidifier or vapouriser?

Humidifier is the common name in the US for what is often called a vapouriser in Australia and New Zealand. The Crane 3-in-1 is a cool mist ultrasonic vapouriser - not to be confused with warm mist or steam vapourisers. The terms are used interchangeably when referring to Crane products.

Which is better: warm mist or cool mist?

Both types are equally effective at humidifying a room. However, paediatricians and parents recommend cool mist for babies and children because there is no heating element, removing the risk of burns. Cool mist humidifiers are also generally more energy-efficient.

Can I use essential oils with this humidifier?

Yes. Unlike traditional Crane humidifiers, this model features an oil-resistant water tank, so you can add essential oils directly into the tank. A vapour pad tray is also included as an alternative. We do not recommend the use of essential oils before the age of 3 years.

I can see a slight mist leak around the base of the water tank. Should I be worried?

No. It is normal for humidifiers to have a small amount of mist leaking through the gap between the water tank and the base when first used, or after a period of non-use. This will stop once water condensation fills the gap. This does not pose any safety risk near the power cord, as the humidifier operates at a low voltage from the external power adapter.

Is too much humidity a concern?

Yes. To reduce excessive humidity - particularly in a smaller room - we suggest leaving the door slightly ajar to increase air circulation. You can also adjust the mist output to a lower setting. If you notice the mist going straight up and then falling back down, this is a sign the mist setting is too high for the room's current humidity level.
