About Korjo

Korjo is an iconic Australian brand that pioneered the travel accessories category in the Southern Hemisphere. Founded in the mid-1970s by Melbourne pharmacist Les Kausman, the brand began when Kausman recognized that his pharmacy customers buying passport photos also needed practical travel gear—items that simply didn't exist in the market at the time. Starting with a humble travel water boiler and a set of adapters, Korjo has grown into a household name, offering over 120 specialized products designed to solve the specific "pain points" of international travel.

Still a family-owned Australian business, Korjo is best known for its color-coded electrical adapters, TSA-approved locks, and security pouches, which are staples in luggage stores, pharmacies, and airports across the country.

Mission, Vision & Innovation

Korjo’s mission is to help travelers have a "more comfortable, happy, safe, and convenient trip." Their vision is to remove the logistical stresses of travel so that people can focus on the experience itself. Innovation at Korjo is often subtle but highly practical; they were among the first to introduce RFID Blocking Technology to the Australian mass market to combat digital skimming.

They also developed the specific KA EU IS adapter to solve a common problem for Australians traveling to Italy and Switzerland, where standard European plugs often fail to fit into recessed sockets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Korjo adapters convert voltage?

No, and this is a critical distinction. Korjo adapters merely change the shape of the plug pins so they fit into a foreign wall socket. They do not change the electrical voltage (e.g., from 110V to 240V). If you plug a standard Australian hairdryer (240V) into a US socket (110V) using just an adapter, it will run slowly or not at all. If you plug a US device (110V) into an Australian socket (240V), it may blow up. You need a transformer to change voltage, though most modern electronics (phones, laptops) are "dual voltage" and work with just an adapter.

What is the difference between the "EU" and "EU IS" adapter?

Standard European sockets utilize two round pins. However, older sockets in Italy and Switzerland often have narrower or recessed holes that a standard thick-pin EU adapter cannot fit into. The Korjo KA EU IS (often identifiable by its thinner pins) is specifically designed to fit these tricky sockets while still working in most other European countries, making it a safer "all-rounder" for a Euro-trip.

How does the Korjo TSA Lock indicator work?

Many Korjo TSA locks feature a small "Red/Green" indicator ring. When you buy the lock, it is set to Green. If TSA security agents in the USA use their master key to open your bag for inspection, the indicator will pop to Red. This lets you know immediately upon collecting your luggage that your bag has been opened and searched by authorities.

Does Korjo RFID gear block all signals?

Korjo’s RFID blocking range (money belts, passport defenders) is engineered to block radio frequencies between 10 MHz and 300 MHz. This covers the frequency used by smart chips in credit cards and e-passports (13.56 MHz), effectively stopping "skimmers" from wirelessly stealing your identity or credit card numbers while walking through a crowd.

Can I use the Korjo USB hub in any country?

The Korjo USB 04 Hub is "multi-voltage," meaning it can handle input from 100V to 240V. This makes it safe to use in virtually any country (USA, Japan, UK, etc.) as long as you attach the correct destination plug adapter to the unit. It is designed to charge devices safely without needing a separate heavy transformer.
