Is it comfortable for back sleepers? Side sleepers? Belly sleepers?

The whole mask is super lightweight so it sits gently on your face as you sleep on your back. For side and belly sleepers (which make up about 74% of the population), the C-shaped foam for unbeatable belly/side sleep comfort. Since there's less material on the temple, your head would sit flat on your pillow. Furthermore, Pro's eye cups feature a smart "air bubble" that expands to keep light out when needed and compresses flat when you lie on your side. This gives you complete blackout sans the bulkiness so you're comfortable all night long.

What is the difference between the Manta Sleep Mask Pro and the Original Mata Sleep Mask?

Both the Manta Sleep Mask Pro and the Original Manta Sleep Mask were created to provide 100% blackout for all types of sleepers. They're both infinitely adjustable, durable and machine washable. However, The Pro's angled strap was designed to sit gently above the ears whereas the Original uses a strap that can be worn above and over the ears.

Also, while both the Original Manta Sleep Mask and the Manta Sleep Mask Pro were designed with side sleepers in mind, the Pro's C-shape foam is more engineered for side sleepers who want nothing to come between their head and their pillow.

As for breathability, the Original uses a modal fabric which promotes breathability so sweat and moisture are quickly released and not trapped next to your skin. On the other hand, the Pro uses cooling and ventilated materials such as Tactel® fabric and polyester mesh to promote maximum air flow for advanced ventilation and unmatched comfort.

Is the mask machine washable? Can it be put in a dryer?

The mask is machine washable, but please make sure to use cold water and put the mask in the included carrying pouch, which doubles as a laundry mesh net. Simply place your Manta Sleep Mask Pro (with the eye cups) into the pouch, zip it up, and throw it into the washer.

Please make sure to always use the pouch when machine washing, otherwise the foam may get overstretched and deformed. Using the pouch to machine wash will SIGNIFICANTLY increase the lifespan of your product. Please don’t bleach the mask. Once done washing, air dry flat (DO NOT tumble dry as the heat can damage the mask).

Will it work with eyelash extensions?

It depends on how long your eyelash extensions are. The depth in the center of the eye cups is about ¾ inches so it shouldn't cause any discomfort for most people.

Disappointing Experience with This Sleep Mask

I had high hopes for this sleep mask, but unfortunately, it fell short in several areas. When wearing it, the mask blocks my nose, causing significant sinus issues. Additionally, when lying on my side, light seeps through, defeating the purpose of the mask. Overall, I'm not happy with it and have decided to purchase from another company. I have had Manta sleep masks before but wanted one that was a bit more streamlined on the side of my head. This mask is amazing!!! Blocks out all light and the removable eye cups help to get the perfect fit! The only downside is the eye cups are just a tad bit stiffer than I would like and they wake me up when I roll over on my side due to the pressure. With Enough Tinkering, I Believe That I Will Eventually Achieve 100% Darkness.

I give 4 stars mainly because no matter how well you think you've adjusted the eye cups, light still seeps in through the inner corners of my nose. It's not a lot of light, but it may still be enough light to mess with your melatonin production and the deep healing processes that can only be achieved when in 100% darkness.

I believe the Manta Pro to be most suitable for back sleepers. You shouldn't have a problem with light seeping in when lying on your back, but for side and stomach sleeping, I always find myself having to reposition the mask to try and stop the light from seeping in between my nose area whenever I change positions.

The added bonus of a small v-shaped-type peg to hold the mask down at the nasal bridge would have come in handy. Without such a peg to hold the mask flat to my face, I may need to fashion something together.

Despite this 5% of light intrusion, I still highly recommend the Manta Pro mainly because the eye cups keep from pressing down on your eyes. Having bought many conventional sleep masks, over time the elastic-type material becomes over-stretchy, thus losing its firmness and no longer sits right on your face. Once the elastic strap wears out, that's when the light seeps in which forces you to either buy a new sleep mask or wrap a sweatband around it. Wrapping a sweatband around an old sleep mask may be very effective at keeping out the light, but if it's too tight, it will press down on your eyes for the 8 hours you are in bed. Upon waking it's not uncommon for me to wait over 6 hours before I'm able to see right in both eyes again.

If light seeping in through the Manta Pro is a big problem for you side and stomach sleepers, you could always make it really tight. I had no problem with light seeping in when I made it super tight, but unfortunately, keeping it super tight does eventually begin hurting your head. Wrapping the sweatband around it is an idea I am yet to try.

Overall, despite the 5% of light seeping in, I still highly recommend the Manta Pro. There's probably no better sleep mask on the market. I believe that with the right adjustment based on the width of your eyes, head and face shape, that you will find that sweet spot that is not only comfortable, but leaves you 100% in the dark. Exactly as advertised, but could use some tweaks

I've been trying the pro out for a month or so now, because I wanted to really give it a go before I wrote a review. It is exactly as advertised. The C-Cup shape eye covers are a fantastic idea and adjust to all sorts of face shapes. The strap doesn't tangle hair and it is incredibly light weight. It blocks out the sun very well and I use it every morning and whenever I travel. I like it a lot better than what I was using before. And I have recommended it to a lot of folks.
It could do with some tweaks. For example, I HAVE to sleep with my hair up. which makes positioning the single strap a little tricky and it can slide up my head or down. This could maybe be tweaked by making one with 2 straps or a singular strap with a ponytail / bun hair holder. It would also make it more adjustable to different head shapes if it were two straps. one tight, one not so tight. It may also help with the ear positioning, as again, because I have to sleep with my hair up, the strap can sit a bit skewiff over the ears or above them.
I am what people call an "active sleeper" meaning I thrash around, get up and walk and do all sorts of weird things, so the double strap would help keep it the mask more secure. I find, the more secure, the less likely I am to go for a wander.
I really enjoy the mask, its a very well made and clever piece of design. I'm glad I bought it. If ever there comes a time where you can adjust two straps, I'm absolutely buying it. (Posted on 11/14/23 )

Uncomfortable but fantastic quality

I haven’t tried a lot of eyemasks and had been looking at these for some time. Seemed a lot of money but took the plunge. I use a dark T-shirt over my eyes normally. Very light sleeper after 2am.
For me big disappointment. And will give to charity. Just couldn’t seem to position right for side and back sleeping. Strap irritated at side and back of head and just slid off all the time.
Having said that brilliant idea with adjustable eye pieces and quality seemed second to none.
What can I say always looking for a sleep saviour.

Nearly perfect

These are expensive but appear to be worth it. You can achieve 100% blackout with some (fiddly) adjustment and trial and errror. Very comfortable for a side sleeper, my only worry is that durability might no let it last long, remains to be seen. Perfect mask!

So comfortable and achieved 100% blackout no matter the position after a bit of adjustment. So you definitely get complete light blockage while side sleeping. I found the best results with one eye cup being slightly higher than the other. I think it's because my cheekbone is slightly higher on that side.

I wish I'd found this sooner!

I'm a side sleeper and this mask does an amazing job of blocking the light out. It's great for getting to sleep, although I must admit that it slides off during the night. I'm not sure whether it does this itself or whether I remove it in my sleep. If you have migraines, then you need this mask. Pricey but works very well

I've had the mask for about 5 weeks. I've found it to be pretty comfortable, once I figured out the best position/tightness for the strap. It completely blocks out all light, and I think it's definitely improved my sleep. I've used it at home and on a plane, and it's worked perfectly well for both.
